Some of the most respected names in the industry manufacture air rifle pellets. When shopping for air rifle pellets, be sure to take some of the following into consideration:

• Caliber - different possible calibers of air rifle pellets include: 0.177", 0.20", 0.22", 0.25", 0.35" (9mm), 0.45", and 0.50".
• Type - different types of pellets include: dome (round nose), pointed, wadcutter (flat nose), and hollowpoint.
• Cavity - a large internal cavity will flatten (or rivet) on impact. This limits penetration.
• Penetration - hollowpoint and wadcutter air rifle pellets give less penetration. These types of air rifle pellets are therefore best for nothing more than small game.

So, when shopping for your air rifle pellets, be sure to consider not only what type of gun you have, but what you plan on shooting at to ensure that you get the best ones. Take a look at pellets of different calibers and of different types – domed pellets and flat head ones and hollow ones and pointed air rifle pellets, as well.

Many air rifle pellets can be used in air pistols, as well. Buy pellets that allow you to shoot with the sort of performance that you want. Remember, though, no matter how great your air rifle pellets are, they are no replacement for a poor marksman!
